Cybertron originated from the orbit of Alpha Centauri until Megatron sought to turn it into a "cosmic dreadnaught but instead, due to cataclysmic forces of his wars, eventually sent the planet careening through deep space. Its own place in the cosmos appears unfixed, drifting freely through space, It had passed through the Sol System at nearly 4 million years ago, going on to drift out of the galaxy over the ensuing millennia. Last known location was near Shaula, the second brightest star of the Scorpius Constellation.
Cybertron appears considerably smaller than the planet Earth but the size of the Planet Cybertron is "Saturn-sized," placing its diameter at around 120,000 km. No rings of dust or debrie surround this metallic planet but has at least two unnamed moons that no longer orbit around Cybertron but are fixed in a stationary orbit.
Entirely metallic on the surface, some of the lowest levels of Cybertron consisted of rock and dirt, suggesting an organic beginning to the planet. Its gravity was light enough that humans were able to traverse the surface without any trouble, and it possessed a breathable atmosphere. Water, or at least a substance resembling it, was in evidence on the planet—lakes and rivers have been shown to exist, albeit sparingly. Many levels below the surface was the energy-furnace, the Plasma Energy Chamber, and at the heart of the planet was the spherical mega-computer, Vector Sigma.
If the assorted colourful exclamations made by numerous Transformers are anything to go by, Cybertron also played host to a vast array of floral and fauna, including but not limited to: ant-droids, bolt-bats, cyber-ducks, dynametal ducks, electro-toads, glitch mice, guineapigatrons, helio-hamsters, hydro-weasels, photovoltaic pussycats, retro-rats, robo-rats, sheepacrons, titanium moosebots, turbofoxes, zap-mice and robotopossums. But none of these creatures appear to exist at current upon Cybertron, presumably all are extinct due to the wars.
Cybertron was historically organized into city-states, the largest and most important being Iacon City. Others have included Helix, Polyhex, Kalis, Kaon, Tarn, and Vos.
The Crystal City was located near Polyhex and Nova Cronum until it's destruction.
The Crystal City was famous for its elegance in construction, and the scientific minds that hail from it. It also has a habit of getting slagged by those who fail to recruit certain inhabitants.
Iacon was an Autobot-controlled city-state, located near the north pole of Cybertron. Iacon was the capital of Cybertron and the base of the Senate, and where most Senators spent their time.
Autobot Base Iacon is depicted as a walled headquarters, reachable by an extendable bridge. Autobots needed to signal their approach before being allowed into Iacon. Lining the path to Iacon were a series of lamp-post like structures.
Within the boundries of Iacon are these significant landmarks:
The Ark's launch bay

Kalis refers to a region on the planet Cybertron rather than a city-state.
Kalis bordered the Decepticon region of Tyrest, and also contained a large-scale radio transmitter called the Baird Beaming Facility.
Kaon is a Decepticon-controlled city-state in the southern hemisphere of Cybertron.
Far from the civilized metropolitan titans of the north half of the planet, Kaon was inhabited by a radical citizenry unsatisfied with the Autobot High Council and its maintained status quo. It was here that the industrial creations, the smelting pools, were first used to melt down living beings, a practice other city-states found horrible and barbaric. Disaffected, unruly, and thirsty for slaughter, Kaon was an obvious location for the fomenting of Megatron's underground Decepticon movement. Kaon was known to be one of the worst places on Cybertron. One of Kaon's notable features were a series of underground gladiatorial combats. Megatron used the games as a method of recruiting gladiators into his Decepticon army. Eventually Decepticons launched an attack on Kaon and took control of the city, using it as their base to direct the campaign against the Autobots.
Nova Cronum is a city-state located near Polyhex and east of Iacon. It was a great place before the Great War began but was destroyed as a result of the fighting between the Autobots and Decepticons, leaving a crater where the city-state once was. Before the Great War, Nova Cronum was a philosphical haven. However, the Decepticons purged the city, rendering it a ghost state.
Simfur is a location near Tyger Pax, bordering the courtyards of Linchpin.
Tarn was one of Cybertron's many city-states before the advent of the Great War and was ruled by a military dictator named Shockwave.
Trypticon is a city on Cybertron in the Movie continuity family.
The city of Trypticon is the home of the Decepticon army on Cybertron. It's remained surprisingly intact during the war over the Allspark.
Among other things, it contains the home of the Decepticon leader, a large building that was adorned with a giant head of Megatron before some jerk blew it up.
It was later entirely destroyed after Dreadwing attempted to overthrow Starscream.
Tyger Pax is a city-state on Cybertron.
The linchpin battle between the Autobots and Decepticons on Cybertron happened at Tyger Pax. It was both a battleground and a key feature to a strategy devised by Optimus Prime, wherein the All Spark would be blasted into space to remove it from Megatron's grasp.
Vos was one of the many city-states on Cybertron that had existed before the beginning of the Great War.
Yuss is a town is the Marvel Comics UK portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
Yuss is a small town in the Stanix region of Cybertron. Yuss is a peaceful town largely untouched by war (Stanix was conquered early in the war and the Decepticons moved on.) Its inhabitants go about their simple lives in and around the village, clothed in colorful metallic fabrics.
4 million years ago, Yuss was located just 3 hics from Fort Scyk. (Because Transformation was invented at the outset of a war which quickly passed them by, it is likely that the inhabitants of Yuss did not have the ability to transform.) In the modern era, Yuss is deep within the Acid Wastes.

The Well of All Sparks is a location on the planet Cybertron in the Dreamwave comics portion of the Generation One continuity family.
The Well of All Sparks is the fount from which Primus birthed the Cybertronian race. It is a direct conduit for the lifeforce of Cybertron's living god, and was sealed to prevent his rival Unicron from locating the planet and destroying Primus' creations.
The Vector Sigma Chamber was a location on planet Cybertron that held the mega computer known as Vector Sigma that gave all Transformers life. It was located in the very depths of the mechanical planet where Centurion droids protected the chamber from intruders.
The Acid Wastes are a region of Cybertron with an awesome-sounding name in the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Acid Wastes span most of the Stanix region in south-west Cybertron. They are a blasted, unforgiving landscape; contaminated by neutronic fallout, wracked by earthquakes, freak weather conditions, and of course acid rain.
For more information about the region, see Stanix.
The neutronic fallout in the Acid Wastes can produce severe allergic reactions in some Transformers.
Autobase is the catchall term for the Autobots' home base of operations on Cybertron.
The Cybertonium Pit is a location in the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Cybertonium Pit was a location on the planet Cybertron where the substance Cybertonium was mined. The location was encircled by a protective Decepticon force field which prevented prisoners from escaping and forced them to mine the green crystals for their slave masters.
The Cybertonium Pit is made of rock, which is consistent with other instances of the deeper levels of Cybertron being non-metallic, notably the asteroid-origin of Cybertron associated with Primus.
Darkmount is a location on Cybertron from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Darkmount is a fortress on Cybertron, the capital of Decepticon-controlled Polyhex. For a period of time during the Great War it was the seat of power for Lord Straxus, who fed dissenters to the smelting pool, a cauldron of magma which sat menacingly in Darkmount's shadow. [1] The smelting pool empties through ducts into a canyon which Darkmount overlooks. [2]
The Decepticon Detention Center was a prison where Megatron imprisoned Renegade Decepticons who were to dangerous to keep in normal prisons, yet too valuable to simply slag.
The Decepticon Crypt is a location on Cybertron in the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Decepticon Crypt is located beneath the surface of Cybertron. It is the place where the Decepticons either lay the remains of their dead to rest, or simply honor their fallen comrades with markers bearing their likeness.
The requirements for being honored in this manner are anyone's guess, considering the known markers.
The Decepticon stronghold is a Decepticon base in the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Decepticon stronghold is the Decepticon base in the year 2008 on Cybertron. One of its attractions is an audience chamber which features statues of (presumably) fallen Decepticon heroes
The Hall of Heroes is a location on Cybertron in the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Decepticon Hall of Heroes[1] is filled with statues of fallen Decepticon leaders. [2]
(Psst! Decepticon Heroes = Villains.)
Hibernation Chamber is something from the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Hibernation Chamber is a large room constructed by the Quintessons in the very depths of Cybertron during their rule of the mechanical planet. Placed in the lowest known levels of the machine world, the Hibernation Chamber appeared organic in construction and had large biological cocoons hooked to a machine where they were suspended above through cords.
These cocoons pulsed as they kept their occupants in a deep sleep. The Hibernation Chamber was used by the Quintessons to trap the most powerful Trans-Organics which they could not destroy and were to remain there for all of time.
A secondary larger chamber nearby, which was sealed, contained the beast known as the Dweller.
J'nwan is a location in the Beast Wars portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
J'nwan is the name given by the inhabitants of Cybertron to the region of their planet which intersects with a subspace fissure rotating through numerous pocket dimensions. The effect of this quantum flux in the local traumasphere is to produce a maddening landscape which seemingly ignores all logic and physics. Navigation is rendered nearly impossible, enormous objects and structures spring forth and vanish unpredictably, and the ultimate result of J'nwan's mere presence on unprepared minds is to destroy them utterly.
It is in this forbidding place that the Authority and countless other Transformers of legend have chosen to live out the rest of their existences. How, precisely, they have made themselves able to remain in J'nwan without succumbing to psychosis or death is unknown, though it is possible their hyperdeveloped mental bonds aid them. (Other, far more interesting theories, such as them alll being mad anyhow or not being real at all, are at this point mere speculation.)
There are present within J'nwan certain obelisks of apparently non-Cybertronic origin; whether this means individuals from other dimensions intersected by the same subspace fissure dwell therein has yet to be revealed.
Ky-Alexia is a location on Cybertron in the Movie continuity family.
Ky-Alexia was once a powerful Autobot stronghold, until it was captured in a Decepticon siege. The stronghold was taken thanks to the immense efforts of Barricade, but few know of this fact. The sole reason for that is due to Starscream taking all the credit, despite minimal involvement with the battle. Barricade has expressed nothing but resentment since Starscream's false boast.
The Mass Transit System was a form of transportation present on Cybertron which allowed Transformers to move from one location to another at a fast rate.
It consisted of a series of large glass tubes which held a transportation car inside which were capable of rapid movement. Depending on the destination, the transportation car would move through the pathways on a set path. To change directions, the glass tubes would reorient themselves to connect to another pathway. A central "highway" was present where a spherical chamber had numerous portals to other pathways for the transport car's journey which simply needed to reorient its path to the relevant tube.
The Maze is a location on Cybertron where Hot Rod, with the aid of Daniel Witwicky, and Blurr raced each other. It appears to be a sort of Autobot gauntlet for training against Decepticons, and is notorious for its sharp, narrow twisting corridors that requires precision over speed to make it through without incident.
Brainstorm attributed Hot Rod's victory in said race to the fact that he had help from a human. He took this as evidence in support of his theory that the Autobots could function better with the aid of secondary operators. This theory would eventually lead to the creation of the Headmasters.
The Matrix is a gigantic facility used to produce and bring life to Maximal protoforms. Apparently it is named after the Creation Matrix. Both the Matrix and the Pit are located in an isolated area on Cybertron. The Matrix and Pit are capable of self-defense, making themselves veritable fortresses. Nobody knows when the facilities first appeared on the planet. The Matrix periodically rolls out Maximal protoforms.
The Oracle Tank is a location in the Dreamwave portion of the Generation One continuity family.
The Oracle Tank is a location within the chambers of the Council of Ancients in the city-state of Iacon. It is believed by the Council members to be a means to communicate with the Vector Sigma mainframe, and the consciousness they assert resides within it. As such, it is often used to test the mettle of potential Primes.
Plasma energy is an energy source (dur-hey) from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Plasma energy is one of the most powerful and dangerous sources of energy in the galaxy.
The Rust Sea is an area of unstable planetary matter and molecular flux located along Cybertron's equator, stretching from Tyrex to Polyhex.[1] Or in simple terms, it's exactly what its name implies. It's a sea, but it's not full of water.[2]
The Hydrax Plateau rises out of the center of it. Cybertron's primary spaceport is located here, where planetary visitors must check in first.
Six Lasers Over Cybertron is a theme park on Cybertron, operational at least as early as the beginning of the Axalon's mission which led it into the Beast Wars. Its attractions include the Space Slide and the Galaxy Coasters. The Agenda (Part 1)
It is unknown whether there are Six Lasers parks on planets other than Cybertron.
The Smelting Pool is a location on Cybertron in the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Smelting Pool is a combined torture and recycling device used by the Decepticons to melt down their enemies. The pool is a fiery red colour as a result of all the molten metal from its victims.
The Sonic Canyons are a location on Cybertron in the Generation One continuity family.
The Sonic Canyons are Primus' sensory organs, resonating structures allowing him to collect data from across the galaxy. This data is then processed into a more meaningful format by the Vector Sigma supercomputer.[1] They are also the place where Siren was raised.
Stanix is a location on Cybertron in the Marvek UK portion of Generation 1 continuity.
Stanix is a region in the south-west side of Cybertron. One of the first areas conquered by the Decepticons, it remained isolated from the ensuing civil war up until the Ark's departure.
It is covered by Fort Scyk.
Fort Scyk is a location on Cybertron in the Marvel UK portion of Generation 1 continuity.
Fort Scyk is a Decepticon base located in the Stanix region on the south-western side of Cybertron. With Stanix captured early in the war and deep in Decepticon-held territory, Fort Scyk is far from the front and is seen as bit of a dumping ground for those stationed there. The garrison consists of both young and green Decepticons, as well as those the High Command would rather see out of the way such as Megadeath.
The only bright spot is that it's located near numerous Neutralist towns such as Yuss, just 3 hics from the fort, providing plenty of target practice.
The Forbidden Zones are areas of Cybertron in the Dreamwave portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
The Forbidden Zones are regions of Ancient Cybertron declared off-limits by the Council of Ancients "for safety reasons" prior to the Great War.
Polyhex is a location on Cybertron in the Generation 1 continuity family.
Polyhex is a Decepticon-controlled province[1] of Cybertron.
Cyber City is the capital city of Cybertron in Dreamwave's Armada comic.
Cybertropolis is a city in the Beast Machines portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
The capital of Cybertron under the Maximals, the city of Cybertropolis was home to ten million Transformers before Megatron and the Vehicons took over. Master of the House It was built upon the ruins of Iacon City, the former base of the Autobots.
Cybertron appears considerably smaller than the planet Earth but the size of the Planet Cybertron is "Saturn-sized," placing its diameter at around 120,000 km.
